In a global energy industry driven by clean energy and emissions goals, there are a number of pathways that can be taken to address climate change. Among these pathways include climate forward energy efficiency and vehicle electrification. Climate forward energy efficiency focuses on lowering the energy demand through energy efficiency strategies to increase the number of pathways to GHG mitigation by 2050 and beyond. Lower energy demand could allow for greater flexibility in energy mix structuring, and prevents the need for accessing all available options in high energy demand scenarios. Vehicle electrification is a key strategy in not only meeting climate change goals, but also improving national security through reduced dependence on fossil fuel imports. There are a number of financing models that can accelerate the deployment rate of electric vehicles, and some studies have been conducted to illustrate the value of EV incentives in mitigating greenhouse gas emissions.
