Nuclear power contributes significantly to a country’s national security, economic security, energy security, as well as geopolitical influence. The US has identified nuclear as a key technology solution to meeting security and geopolitical goals, but in the last decade, the US has slowly lost its leadership to nuclear supplier countries such as Russia and China that can operate with state‐backed resources. As the US looks to regain its nuclear leadership, international cooperation may be a pathway forward to allow like‐minded allied democratic nations to compete together against Russia and China to maintain global geopolitical leadership among the democratic allies.
