On May 16-19, GABI attended Asia Montana Energy Summit in Whitefish, MT. This is an exclusive gathering of leaders from a diverse and interdisciplinary community to discuss current trends shaping the U.S. – Asia energy market and important policy developments as well as to talk about new ways for better international cooperation. The gathering represent not only the public policy community and energy companies and power utility sectors, but also other industries that impact the energy world, such as information technology, high tech manufacturing, transportation, infrastructure and finance. The goals of this dynamic forum are for American and Asian leaders to be better informed about developing energy trends, new innovations and changing priorities in the US and Asia regions while trying to identify new ways to work together to expand energy trade and cooperation. This year’s summit focused on the following questions:
1) As a net exporter, how the United States can contribute to global stability, growth and sustainability?
2) What are the changing energy priorities in East Asia?
3) How to address US policy, infrastructure and market accessibility challenges to facilitate greater energy trade with Asia?
