GABI-USNIC Technical Workshop: An In-depth Look at Spent Nuclear Fuel Storage

In partnership with the US Nuclear Infrastructure Council (USNIC), GABI hosted a two-day event in Seoul on spent nuclear fuel management beginning on March 18, 2014. The program included a technical workshop and a site visit to Sedae Enertech in Gunsan, where used fuel casks are currently being fabricated for Korea. The technical workshop included presentations on used fuel design, licensing and technology, manufacturing, deployment, transportation, regulation, and policy based on US and global lessons learned. Workshop participants included high-level representatives from Korean utilities, radioactive and waste management entities, and nuclear energy regulatory and policy circles.
