The vision statement of the Macro Grid Initiative is to expand and upgrade the nation\u2019s transmission network to deliver jobs and economic development, a cleaner environment, and lower costs for consumers. This vision is focused around a high voltage DC system that would connect the Western and Eastern interconnects. Transmission expands access to lower-cost domestic energy, and aggressive procurement goals require new transmission. Additionally, a macro grid enhances the nation\u2019s transmission system for long-term and extreme weather events. Diverse perspectives are new to the transmission discussion, so outreach is timely and critically important, and stakeholders should be engaged at the federal, state, and local levels.<\/p>\n
