Hydrogen can be produced from many different energy resources, and it has diverse applications and uses
\nacross many different sectors and industries. Thus, many national governments are looking to invest in
\nhydrogen technologies as significant contributors to meeting their future energy needs and
\ndecarbonization\/environmental goals. For example, both the US and Republic of Korea have invested
\nsignificant resources into hydrogen and fuel cell R&D to expand deployment of these technologies in the
\nupcoming years and decades; such national R&D programs and initiatives may ultimately facilitate the
\nemergence of the global hydrogen economy. While countries may differ in their approaches to R&D in this
\nspace, it remains clear that the main challenges to expanding the hydrogen industry are shared amongst all
\ncountries: cost reductions for hydrogen production, as well as durability and performance improvement for
