To address issues of soaring global energy demand, energy security, and carbon mitigation, a variety of technologies and means may be feasibly developed and deployed. Energy storage, smart grids and micro grids, energy efficiency, carbon capture, and renewable energy are all potential solutions to providing greener energy worldwide. The Republic of Korea, facing challenges of high dependence on energy imports, an energy-intensive industrial economy, and historically high carbon emissions growth rates, R&D on clean energy technologies is among the highest of national priorities.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
