Global Clean Energy 2017
August 09, 2017

In partnership with the Korea Institute of Energy Research (KIER), GABI hosted a major event on international cooperation in clean energy at the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Washington, DC on August 9th, 2017. The event hosted representatives from 16 embassies in Washington, as well as experts from U.S. Government, Capitol Hill, universities, think tanks, international organizations, R&D institutes, and industry organizations.

The workshop featured special remarks from former Congressmen, diplomats, and prominent researchers, including several presenters from KIER who spoke on the institute’s current work on photovoltaics, fuel cells, solar thermal, hydrogen energy, and renewable energy resource mapping. One of the recurring themes during the workshop was the role of international R&D cooperation in shaping the research agendas and priorities of the countries involved. With limited funding available for clean energy R&D, multilateral and bilateral cooperative arrangements may be one means to maximize scarce resources.
