Since the 2015 revision of the ROK-U.S. Nuclear Cooperation Agreement under Section 123 of the U.S. Atomic Energy Act, both countries have made substantial progress in deepening nuclear cooperation. The revision of the agreement reshaped the bilateral framework, reaffirmed strategic alignment, and provided a foundation for expanding joint efforts in nuclear energy research, development, and export. The evolving global energy and security landscape underscores the increasing necessity for collaboration in the nuclear sector to address carbon neutrality targets, rising electricity demand, and geopolitical risk.
