The International Trade Administration (ITA) is the lead trade promotion agency of the U.S. Government, with a global network of centers that seek to bolster U.S. export competitiveness through developing international markets, raising awareness of commercial opportunities, and informing stakeholders and entities of relevant developments. ITA is a critical part of coordinated U.S. government efforts aimed at supporting the U.S. civil nuclear industry, which must overcome a host of challenges, including state-backed foreign competitors, a complex export control process, and political difficulties involving bilateral nuclear cooperation agreements. In order to support U.S. nuclear energy vendors and firms, ITA conducts trade missions, produces reports on civil nuclear markets abroad, and engages in advocacy activities through a number of key initiatives, including the Civil Nuclear Trade Initiative (CNTI), which seeks to increase commercial benefits from nuclear cooperation with other countries. ITA also hosts the Civil Nuclear Trade Advisory Committee (CINTAC), a group of industry advisors that provide recommendations to the Secretary of Commerce for the purpose of expanding U.S. exports of civil nuclear products and services.
