    Dr. Won-Dong Cho - former Senior Secretary of Economic Affairs to ROK President Park Geun-hye; chaired professor, Chung-Ang University

    Dr. Won-Dong Cho is the former Senior Economic Secretary to President Park Geun-hye; he played an instrumental role in formulating the economic policy of the current administration. During the previous administration, Dr. Cho served as a vice-minister at the Prime Minister's office. He was involved in policy formulation with regards to Korea's green growth strategy and coordinated the policy dialogue among ministries. Previously, Dr. Cho held numerous prestigious positions both in and out of the government. He was the President of the Korea Institute of Public Finance and served as senior advisor to the Executive Director at the IMF, representing Korea, Australia, New Zealand, and Philippines, as well as ten Pacific Island member countries.

    Dr. Cho's government career was primarily with the Ministry of Finance and Economy (MOFE). He joined the Ministry in 1980, where he gained experience in project evaluation, industrial policy, and international trade policy. During the 1997 Asian Financial crisis, Dr. Cho was chosen by the President's office to formulate policies to overcome the crisis, which included corporate restructuring. After having served at the IMF, Dr. Cho returned to MOFE to assume the post of Director-General for Economic Policy until he joined the Prime Minister's office. Currently, he is teaching at Chung-Ang University in Seoul.

    Dr. Cho holds a B.A. from Seoul National University and M.A. and Ph.D. in economics from Oxford University.
